So I’m new here, so I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, or if I’m doing this right.. if I’m not please let me know and I’ll delete it.
When I went out to fed my guinea pigs this morning I noticed my texel, cloud didn’t come out for her veggies which is very out of character for her, so I go into their hut and pick her up and realise she is making a clicking noise while she’s breathing.. I got her eating and then had to put her back outside as I had school.. and throughout the day she has been running around and eating normally.. this evening it was louder so I set up a indoor cage and brought her in and she ate some veggies bit the clicking noise continued.. she is around 5 (we got her 2 years ago and the rescue estimated her at 3 but didn’t really know) my mums telling me she’s just getting cold outside and I’m over reacting which I really hope I am but I’m so worried it’s an URI..
And help with be greatly appreciated thanks..

She needs a vet. A URI can kill a pig very quickly, and a clicking noise when breathing needs to be evaluated by a vet.

Ditto bpatters. She needs to see a cavy-knowledgeable vet, immediately.

URIs are straightforward to treat, but require Rx antibiotics and time is truly of the essence.

It’s not usually recommended to keep your guinea pig outside.

It gets too cold for them, predators can break into the hutch, and the hutch can also tip over (by strong winds or by a large predator, such as a bear).

Also, they like to be in your company, and it’s harder to tell if they’re sick because you’re not seeing them as much. In addition, really entertaining to watch your piggies play! I don’t think you would be able to be this as much with outdoor guinea pigs.

I live in Connecticut, and it’s already starting to get into the low 50’s during the nights. I don’t know where you live, but it also may be getting cold during the night.

Many outdoor cages have wire flooring, which is not recommended because it is very painful and can cause brumblefoot.

I’m sorry, I dont have anything to recommend for you for the clicking besides to get her to a vet ASAP.

I hope she feels better soon! I’m sorry that she’s not feeling well.
