Hi all
I have 3 piggies who are scratching more than usual and want to treat them for mites using Revolution (selamectin). One of my girls is possibly 4 weeks pregnant. Is this safe for her and her pups? I've been researching for a few days now but can't find anything definitive. Thanks!

In other species, it is safe to use during pregnancy.

We've had people use it on pregnant sows.

Wait, you are asking about Revolution, but Lynx's response is about ivermectin.

Ivermectin is safe for pregnant guinea pigs, but don't know about Revolution.

From what little I've read about Selamectin, it seems to be safe to use in pregnant and lactating dogs and cats. To find an answer to whether or not the same can be said of other species, I did a more extensive Google search and stumbled across this website: http://www.pet-informed-veterinary-advi ... ntrol.html. It is a lengthy page, but worth weeding through all of it to get a better idea of whether or not it is considered safe for use in other species of pregnant/lactating animals, and under what circumstances it is not considered safe to use in pregnant animals such as rats and mice.

Yes, I read her post wrong (not ivermectin). I do think Revolution is generally considered safer but I don't know why.
