Thanks, guys, her sneezing is still decreasing (still after I handle her though) and there are virtually no boogers on her nose now. I hope this trend continues.

I hope so as well. It’s so stressful caring for them when they’re ill. I hope she keeps getting better.

They did xrays and she apparently coughed a few times and sneezed during the exam. According to them she has bronchitis so she will be taking Orbax once a day for 10 days at 30mg/ml at 0.35ml. She will also be given meloxicam 1.5mg/ml once a day at 0.35ml. Monday we should have oral medication for the ringworm as the place that "makes" it is closed on the weekend. Last time I weighed her (Tuesday she weighed 511g) I will weigh her again tonight and everyday until she's stable and off meds for a week.

She is a very active girl with bright spirits, I hope she pulls through this!

So glad things are going well. Not heard of Orbax but at least she is pain free. Hoping things continue to improve for Willow and Bailey!

I hope the Orbax does the trick to knock out the cough. As with any antibiotic, watch for changes in her appetite and in the amount of water she drinks. And following the antibiotic about an hour later with a probiotic can be helpful. Good luck and keep us posted on how she's doing.

Day 1 went fine, but day 2 she doesn't want to get up at all to eat or drink and is puffing more air out of her nose. Ugghhh

Do you have a humidifier? This may help her? It could be the antibiotics making her feel yuck and not eating. Perhaps ring the vet and tell them what she is doing, they may have a suggestion? Sending healing vibes your way.

Vet told us to take her off antibiotics. She still has clear discharge and sneezes several times a day but no other symptoms. We have been "steaming" her in the bathroom that has hot shower running for about 10 minutes each day, maybe 2 or 3 times a day depending on our schedule. Specialist said her bloodwork was normal so if anything changes we'll go back to drawing board. So I'm not sure if she has asthma or bronchitis like he originally said, but that means she would have had bronchitis for 6-7 weeks now with no changes (not better or worse).

I have another question regarding her, but it's not health related so I'm going to put it in one of the other chat forums.

So glad she is feeling better. Your question might be better in this thread as it is usually one thread per piggy. Hoping things continue to go well with your pigs!

Update on Willow:
We are now over month off of AB and she is now getting 0.9% saline nebulizer treatment once a day for 30 mins. We started nebulizer about 1 week ago and all her seeing and snot has disappeared! Wishing the vet would have recommended this instead of pumping her full of AB that made her sick!

If you don't want to read previous post, she only had sneeze and snot for weeks...no decline in health, activity, or food interest. That is why I was pleading with my vet that i didn't think AB would help seeing as it was weeks of no change...if she was actually sick, I would have expected her to get worse (I am not sure if that is necessarily true, but the nebulizer treatments work after about 3 months of a sneezy sontty nose).

Go Nebulizer!!!!

Update on Bailey:

Her foot injury has healed, but now she has a mysterious breathing issue.

I am not sure why 3/4 pigs in the last month have respiratory issues...all different symptoms, but all only having ONE symptom without any decline in health for weeks. WHAT THE HECKKKK? Fleece bedding and no dusty hay, have an air purifier running on high 24/7.

Similar to my other pigs, she only has one symptom, labored breathing. (See album here: https://photos.app.goo.www.guinealynx.info/). We took her to vet, they told me to try nebulizer, that didn't help (maybe made worse??). But they also took an x-ray to check for a mass and didn't they say anything, so I assumed it was good.

1 week later I take her back and this time the said they found a pea sized lump in her throat and aspirated it and checked the cells. They said they found cells of neutrophils indicating a bacterial infection. This time they said it looked like she had pneumonia based on x-ray, but they never mentioned that the first or second time I was on the phone with them. They also said they didn't notice any other symptoms that they noticed besides the breathing. As a result the prescribed 5 days of pre-drawn meloxicam (aka no extra) and 2 weeks of Baytril (she weighed ~1110g with a dose of 0.2mL of 50mg/mL every 12 hours). She seems to be tolerating the Baytril well as she maintained her weight and she's still eating relatively normal. Her breathing is about the same, maybe slightly better! However, she is only on day ~3. I updated them today and they "keeping her the antibiotics and see how things go with the mass. If it decreases in size and her breathing improves, we may keep her on the Baytril longer than the 2 weeks."

Fingers crossed, if this does not work they suggested looking at her teeth, which seems semi-unrelated. So if this treatment does not work she will continue her life to the best that I can provide as I have spent 4K in the past 4 months on my heard as a student.

That is good news on Willow! So happy to hear you found something to help her.

I agree the teeth would seem to not be an issue if she is maintaining weight and not having difficulty eating. Unusual about the pea sized lump in her throat. Are there any lumps on her neck? If there is something restricting breathing in her throat, it could explain the breathing issue you observe. I hope the Baytril helps. I am sure yuo will weigh her daily to make sure she is eating okay while on Baytril.
