Weird Sore Without HairLoss

My trials and tribulations with Montgomery continue.
Noticed a lump on her left side a few weeks ago with
no hair loss. Did a fine needle aspiration which showed
some inflamatory results. Since she had a recent bout with
cancer we decided (vet and I) we would remove the lump. Took
her in Friday and he called me to say there is actually a scab
there on top of the lump and he shaved her fur to show me. He
did not do any surgery and suggested I take her home and see
if her immune system can heal on its own.

It´s a weird looking thing. It´s dark red soft scabbie looking
thing with a funny border around it. It´s almost you took a knife and
cut a little open border around it (sounds gross but only I can
acurately describe). Around the this open border is a pink border
where I guess the underlying inflamation is. My vet doesn´t know
what it is. I am bathing it daily and applying an anti-fungal
and antiflamatory cream twice. She´s acting normal with good appetite.
Anyone know what this could be? Could it be round or ring worm or
other parasite? I am not sure as there is no visible hair loss with this until
he shaved her. Besides I don´t where she would pick up a parasite
unless it was at the vet´s office.

HELP!

The only thing this brings to mind is skin cancer. But your vet saw it and would have considered and ruled it out. Perhaps take his advice and see if it heals on its own? Make sure it doesn´t get hot and inflamed.

There was a recent thread on warts. They seem to be viral and contageous (and somewhat species specific). I wonder if it´s a wart of some sort.
