Is it always unadvisable to house an intact male and female together, even if they are both seniors? Is pregnancy still possible if the sow is nearly 7?

Please know that I have NOT done this, just genuinely curious, all mammals have a point of infertility if they live long enough.

I'm not sure anyone really knows how late in life a sow can get pregnant. I've never heard of any documented examples of late life pregnancies in guinea pigs.

Me either, but it seems like too risky of a move to pair the M/F together unless there is a confirmed spay or neuter for one of them. The consequences would be too severe if she was to get pregnant.

I wouldn't risk it.
