I am sorry to hear that.

I guess I would try to make sure you were using a very gentle detergent and that the fleece was thoroughly rinsed so the detergent did not aggravate the feet. But if all the feet are wrapped, I guess they won't contact the fleece any more.

Oh no! Were you able to find that Lantiseptic product I mentioned? As I said, I've had good luck with it with our little disabled guy whose feet get red and irritated on occasion. I'd be interested to see if it might help.

Oh I somehow missed that recommendation Sef, where do you get it? We’re using some soap the vet gave us (not sure what it is as it didn’t get labelled) but we will try anything. We aren’t ready to say goodbye yet and he’s doing ok for now so we’ll keep on for the time being.

Yeah with 4 wrapped feet it doesn’t matter about bedding atm but I will do a double rinse on his fleece .

I order it online, on Amazon.com. It's this product. We were introduced to it when my husband was in hospital for several months and developed bedsores. It does an amazing job on skin, so I tried it on our little guy Sammy when he started having some redness on both back feet. Just a very thin layer is needed.

Hmmm I wrote a post a few days ago but it seems to have gone missing. Even though I was making sure his feet were dry before wrapping ( and they were getting better for a bit) they started getting worse. I went to wipe his foot gently with s soapy gauze (soap from the vet) and a huge chunk of skin sloughed off and he started bleeding. Thankfully it stopped quickly but I’ve had to leave his feet unwrapped to dry out.

He’s soooooo messy! Trying to find some kind of Flatish dish he can’t club inside as he’s a total mess. Currently trying a porcelain soap fish lol

Little flat reptile dish could also work.

I had some tips on the bandaging page concerning making sure to have to have the foot really dry before wrapping. Airing it out in between wraps, leaving it open for a while, can be beneficial. Bandaging can have negative complications. I think making sure you use gauze helps keep it drier too.

Wrapping it too tightly or for too long can set the foot up for trapped moisture, and I imagine that can be a breeding ground for fungal infection. Any luck on finding Lantiseptic? If not, I'd be happy to send you a sample of it to try. Just shoot me your address in the GL mailer.

I am using gauze under vet wrap (not too tight) and letting dry first but i guess it was still getting too damp (maybe too much of his foot cream?) and he’s so messy that by the time his feet have sufficiently aired out they need to be washed again.

I could only find the lantiseptic online so I have a jar on order, just waiting for it to arrive. Thanks so much for the sample offer though that was super kind of you. 🥰

Soap dish seems to going ok, better than the bowls or plates at least. He’s not putting his feet in quite as much, he’s still getting messy though 🙄

I’m at a loss for what to do for him. Now whenever I try to clean his feet, the skin starts peeling off . I have to clean him as his feet are caked in his wet food, but I can’t cuz it makes his feet bleed. I’m now changing his bedding 4x a day and hoping the lantiseptic arrives soon and somehow he makes a miraculous recovery but I think instead of a dental at his next appt he’s going to have to be put down. :( I’m so sad, he’s just not getting better. He still has a massive appetite and loves sitting in your lap for head scratches.
