It is possible any video showing a watery vs. thick white discharge from a suspected abscess may be misidentifying the material as pus. I believe injuries can exude clear body fluid. I looked around for some kind of information one way or another and came up empty.

Edit:
I found nothing doing a search on guinea pig and "clear pus" (in quotes).

In contrast, just "clear pus" has various sites describing either lymphatic fluid or serus fluid. So indeed, if there is some clear fluid present, it may actually not be pus.

Random google:
Clear liquid from a pimple is 'serous fluid' containing white blood cells killed in the battle against bacteria/inflammation. It is the natural cycle of healing inflammation and white blood cells doing their job.

If it's leaking a clear fluid, it's not pus, and it's not an infection. Sometimes a tattoo will leak plasma–the somewhat clear fluid in your blood.

"When you scrape your knee or something, what is this clear liquid oozing out after it stops bleeding?"
Lymphatic fluid, which is most of the water in your body that isn't blood or inside cells. You have 4x-5x as much lymph in your body as you do blood, but there's no heart to circulate that fluid. Only muscular movement can do that.

And from:
https://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-c ... ar-pus.htm
In most cases, clear pus or fluid indicates that a wound is healing. It does not typically signal an infection, and it is usually much thinner than other forms of pus. In fact, clear pus often is not true pus at all. It may commonly be noticed as oozing from healing scrapes or cuts, pimples, and other minor injuries. As long as the fluid is clear, there is usually no cause for concern.
So it could be something else that one is seeing.

His granulated tissue has shrunk significantly over the past two days..thank god! I'm hoping this will be fully healed soon so this ordeal can be over with. He's getting annoyed with the flushing at this point lol. I did stock up on a case of benebac gel. Lol

There is also no pus or whatever it was. It was watery and off white with no smell. I figured it was from healing....as after my major knee surgery, I kind of had the same thing in my huge incisuon.

Good news, and I do seem to remember my husband having something similar with his knee after an injury. I had thought it was infection/pus, but the wound specialist said that it was a normal discharge from healing and new tissue regeneration.

There are contraptions called "wound vacs" that collect the fluid from large, hard to heal wounds. Kind of a negative pressure thing.

sef1268....thos was my 4th knee surgery. No issues with the prior surgeries....however due to new insurance I had to see a new ortho. My incision got infected with a huge rash around it. Worst thing ever. Had to see an allergist...dermatologist..infectious disease. My PT said a lot of this ortho's patients she sees get an infection. Not to mention the scar he made was horrible. And my ins recommended him. SMH.

Lynx..we use wound vacs all the time at work...except some of those wounds are horrid lol. 🤢😷

Just glad Spencer is doing so well now 😊

Sounds like Dr. Nick on The Simpsons! Amazing how some of these doctors stay in business. We have one here that was doing gastric bypass surgery and the poor patients had infections and digestive trouble. Finally the hospital pulled his surgery rights so now he is a work comp doctor doing drug tests and company physicals.

Makes you wonder how some of these quacks actually get through med school.

I agree. And he is the chief of orthopedics where I work 🙄. I know I need another surgery (too many years of playing softball injured). My old ortho...the good one is now in network with my insurance..however where he does surgery is Tier 1. So I wait and see if the surgery center will become inner circle. 😐

Following up with the vet today as I have not heard back on if Dr. Briggs will be in this week. I will just make the follow up with his usual vet.
