I have been asked if it is safe to use Advantage and Ivermectin at the same time. Anyone have an answer?

If not, how long is advisable between treatments?

I am guessing you would actually have to get feedback from the manufacturers to have a definitive answer.

I would still advocate trying topical ivermectin to take care of mites and lice, in which case only one drug would be used.

Good question. I suspect the method and dosage have a lot to do with it. Some people do every single month if their cat or dog is on Heartgard (or some other heartworm meds) and Advantage. The ivermectin is systemic (taken internally). The answers I´ve gotten are yes if given that way--ivermectin by injection or orally and Advantage as directed topically. I definitely would not use both topically at the same time. If there is a decision to use one or the other, the ivermectin topically is definitely more broad-spectrum as Lynx mentions. I don´t see a reason to do both normally but Advantage does knock down the hatched adults faster than ivermectin.

Where´s that organic chemist when you need him?
