    • I found Teresa at http://www.weecritters.com/vetscorner.html and couldn't be more pleased.
All (?)animals are seen at this clinic with different Dr.'s, T.Bradely is the Exotics to I refure here.
Only the basic exams have been needed so far with the exception of a neutering which lazer neutering/spaying is available, and I was glad to have gone that way as I have seen dogs suffer weeks with traditional stitches I didn't want that with my precious piggy. The lazer neutering was cleaner, easy to care for (I was going on Teresa's word that has 4 piggies herself) and less painful.
Her 'rates' are fair although higher then some I've seen posted but I'd rater pay a fair price and know my 'family' are taken very well care of.
Another note - Teresa Bradely is also known and said to be one of the best in her field and is commonly called upon by other vet/Doctors. I found this reasurring personally.

    • (highly recommended by others --- however my experience is sub-par. I've lost pigs, a rabbit, and a snake under conditions i would call suspicious. I personally think they are too quick to use anesthesia where unnecessary. Others swear by them as one of the best in KC so are on the list.)

She only works on Tuesdays as of this posting, but she is by far the best we've used (about 8). I highly recommend her as a regular vet as she doesn't put the pigs under for checkups, blood, or x-rays. Surgery is great, and gives pigs good bacteria while on antibiotics, something none of the other vets have ever done. The pigs seem to like her and don't fear her like some of the others we have used. I could go on and on ... but if your looking for a regular vet in the KC area I think this should be your first choice .

"This is a multi-specialty referral-only practice and after-hours emergency facility."

We took Lucy there after hours for a pneumonia emergency visit and later for a bladder blockage due to a stone. They provided excellent care. My niece's cat was referred there several years ago for some ill-defined condition that was life-threatening illness. They took care of it & the cat is perfectly fine now.

    • Revision: Dr. Christopher Moritz is practicing at Creve Coeur Animal Hospital. Dr. Raelynn Kemp is already on your vet list at this location. That's where I got her name. We've been taking our pigs to her and a couple of other vets at this hospital for 7 years and I think they're the best.

    • Dr. Kemp did an extremely thorough and helpful wellness check when I switched vets. She is currently treating Yan for his most recent ear infection. She explains everything to me as we go along and keeps up with current research on possible successful treatments. She also has a real compassion for animals! She's fantastic.

    • Dr. Moritz really takes the time to get to know your guinea pig. He is very willing to listen to your opinions and is always open to new ideas and research. He was interested in Guinea Lynx and the medical information I had acquired here.

I initially took Ginger to Dr. Moritz for her pneumonia. Dr. Moritz did a full exam, checking her teeth, nails, ears, nose, etc. He asked all about her diet and housing. He has done several x-rays on Ginger, and he has taken a lot of time to explain the x-rays to me. He was very detailed in telling me about treatments options and had me take a nebulizer home to do treatments to help her breathe. I have called the office asking numerous questions, and the staff has been very nice too.

Dr. Moritz is also recommended by the House Rabbit Society. His clinic also sells Oxbow products.

I just returned from the hospital so all is fresh in my mind... Today we saw Dr. Anderson, who is very nice and has sent my current guy home with a definitely-needed antibiotic (he quit eating/drinking, has a fever and nasal/eye discharge, but has eaten his 2 syringe feedings well so far so I'm feeling encouraged). But "Dr. P." is the one who totally adores guinea pigs. I knew I was in the right place the first time when I was showed into a room decorated with lovely drawings of piggies!

Dr. P. helped me through 5 months of dealing with my last guinea pig's malocclusion (which had been misdiagnosed by another vet in St. Louis, who simply put him on an antibiotic). He filed O.'s teeth 4 times, kept him overnight at his own home to make sure he was okay on several occasions, held my hand, and sent a card signed by everyone there when poor O. just couldn't hang on any longer. Besides being an excellent vet, he is a genuinely nice person. He is more than willing to investigate things you may find on the Internet, and admits that while he doesn't "know all" about guinea pigs, he is something of a specialist, really likes them and sees a lot of them.

I found Dr. P. thru Seagull's Vet Finder and thank God that I did because otherwise O. would have been gone a lot sooner. We moved and now live 45 minutes away but it is worth the drive. For icing on the cake, might I add that the hospital's prices also are very reasonable? The last thing you want to be worried about when racing to the vet with a sick animal is how much it's going to cost. Today I was
"worked in" without an appt., another courtesy I much appreciated since with a sick pig every minute counts.

In the past I worked for several different vets and I know a good one when I meet one. Having now met Dr. Anderson and also seen Dr. K. once with O., they also are top-notch. I can recommend this hospital and especially Dr. P. without reservation.
