Tears were shed here! What a nerve wracking couple of days. And a great moment for Harris and all the little girls. I am looking forward to the announcement on who is going to be on Biden's COVID task force. So looking forward to science leading the way and honesty.

I danced when I found out and then I cried during Biden's speech. I'm always a big sop though, so no surprise. It feels like there is a weight that has been removed from my chest.

I think that's how a sizable chunk of Americans felt.

I have never been the popular kid in school, but the last few days I've at least been able to feel what it is like a tiny bit. My brother is shooting the fireworks for the Biden inauguration and asked if I wanted to come up from school to hang out with him. He said it's really crazy in DC and I should see if some "boys" want to come along and they can be "backstage" to watch the fireworks and hang out. He still thinks "boys" can protect me better.

So I asked several and everybody wanted to go. But most of them are boys as it turns out. We all got permission, what we have to wear, covid info etc etc. I can bring around 10 people my brother said because no one on their team is having friends or family come. So it really feels pretty cool to have everyone asking me about my brother, fireworks and stuff. They all think it's so strange that I know about how that little world works and none of them do, ha!

I think they are shooting near the mall but not positive, my brother is sending me text with where he has to meet me. I think he has to meet me somewhere else then bring us to where they shoot. Should be a fun time. I'll try and let everyone know how much fun it is, is anyone else going into DC?

Fireworks are a very fine way to celebrate Biden's inauguration! I have some rice crispie treats waiting ;-)

Post a couple fun pics afterwards if you can!

My plan is to send a simple one-word text to my family (brothers, sister) as he is sworn in.

Hallelujah!!

I would expect few people to go to DC. It's very shut down right now and local officials have heavily discouraged people from going to the city. Something like 13 Metro stations are closed, no MARC, no VRE, many other road closures, signs on highways saying to stay out of DC, etc. I might be able to hear fireworks but I'm not going any closer to DC than I need to be.

Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!!

What a marvelous day! A very small, outside, celebration this evening! After having to numb one's self to the never ending barrage of evil, to have hope is utter euphoria!

We heard the fireworks. It was wild to see them on TV and hear them outside, too.

I have seen a lot of shows tagging along with my Dad and brother. I've heard of the great ones in Monte Carlo, San Sebastian, Toronto, but this one, if not the best artistically, sure seemed to be the best for the situation! It exploded celebration!

The brocade section was their best ever and they do that at every show. Loud is their trademark, and they didn't disappoint. I am very proud of my big brother.

One of the "boys" had a very nice camera and took some gorgeous photos. He's suppose to be sending some to all of us who went, Ill try to get them up asap.

I love fireworks. We lived just outside Philadelphia for nearly 15 years, and Philly does spectacular fireworks at least two or three times a year.

A few years ago, I took four teenagers to Canada, and the one place I was determined to go was to the International Fireworks Festival. A different country puts on the fireworks each night, and we lucked out and got China. They were spectacular.

bpatters, I think you may have seen one of the all-time great shows. Garden State used to compete in those festivals and won most of them but while at their peak lost to China, in Canada, in what I've been told was an incredible show that brought a lot of innovation to their industry. I hear some of the guys still talking about that when I visit the shops

I understand there is a push to get Dejoy out of the USPS. He has contributed mightily to its ruination. In January, things are getting even worse.

I am told from a sound source that the sorting facility in Richmond is being shut down and mail will be sent to some other sorting facility to eventually get back to our town. But our local guys are getting mail dumps that are unsorted and have to be sorted by hand!!!!! This is like having the post office go back 30 or 40 years. Automation had resulted in carriers being able to deliver to more customers so their routes grew ever bigger, they now not only have all the packages to deliver but also have to do sorting, along with delivering the mail! They get a salary. Are expected to work all this extra stuff. No extra pay. Local management has carriers ill and quitting, not being able to do their job. Local management is suffering too.

DeJoy should be made to deliver mail himself! Ripping out the sorting machines is just another nail in the coffin.

One possibility is criminal investigation and prosecution to get rid of him. Millions of dollars needs to go into repair of the system.

WTH is he still doing there?? I just assumed he was gone, I talked to a friend in CA a few days ago & he asked me when I got my Christmas card. It was at least a week after New Year's. He said he mailed it before Christmas.
