My piggie has some weird black colour with skin falling off around her teets. The teets also feel very dry and frail, like there's no mass left in them, just pieces of skin. I hope it's not some kind of tumor? :'(
I really can't make out what it is. She's unspayed and 8-9 years old. She may even be spayed cause I adopted her but we never really knew. Unfortunately I'm in india (Delhi) and there aren't many facilities here. Can someone please help me? I really don't know what to do and what this could be. She is slowly eating less too. She's nearly stopped eating hay which is quite alarming for the past 2 days. I'm trying to attach a picture but I can't seem to figure it out. A little help please

She's quite old for a guinea pig, and it may be that her body is just slowing down. Dry skin as also very common in senior pigs.

You can moisturize her skin with cold pressed virgin coconut oil.

You can attach a picture by hosting it somewhere and linking to it here.

Do you have a way to weigh her daily? Or to hand feed her? it might help give her a boost.

Yes yes hand feeding I can do. She is eating her veggies. I started her on perinorm and probiotics and simethicone. Her poop had completely stopped. After the medicines she seems to have started eating better. She's eating hay too. But the slowdown was quite sudden, one day she was eating and then next day she wasn't. Maybe it's a dental issue given her age? She's pooping less than usual right now. I can definitely weigh her daily. Will start doing that today onwards. Thank you for the replies.

So I've managed to host the pictures on this site. Please tell me if there's something wrong

Also is it possible she just had a bad tummy? Constipation or some kind of slow down and that's why she stopped eating?
I'm wondering if I should take her in for an x-ray to get her teeth checked?

Hi everyone
There's another update. She's getting white discharge in her eyes. I feel like I'm losing her. Her head keeps drooping slowly. Below are images.

I'm very sorry you're piggy is having trouble. It's good that she's more interested in food again, but a visit to the vet might be a good idea. The sudden loss of appetite is concerning, and as they get older they really struggle to put weight back on. Guinea pigs produce a white milky substance in their eyes from time to time which cleans and lubricates the eyes. I'm not sure if that's what this is, but it's possible. Good luck to you and your piggy.

I did visit the vet yesterday. He gave her melonex and simethicone (which I was already giving) and told me to feed juice if she stops eating -_- and couldn't really tell me what it was that was causing her loss of appetite :(
There's another thing. Her tummy feels full when I touch. It's not bloated, doesn't feel like gas, but feels round more than usual. I massage it and it then becomes all soft and squishy. Does anyone know what this could be?

Massaging would be good to get her digestion moving. You will need to give more than juice if she's not eating, however, because she will need fiber in order to move the food through her digestion. I don't know what kind of hand-feeding food you have there. We have something called Critical Care which is highly nutritious. It's mixed with water like a cake batter consistency and fed using a syringe without the needle. Your vet should be able to advise. Otherwise, crushed up pellets soaked with warm water can be fed the same way. Try to get her to eat hay if possible.

Here is information on hand feeding that may help.

Thanks itsazoo. I do have critical care, got it imported when my bunny got sick many many years ago. And I swear by it too, lifesaver it is. I've been giving her dry balls of critical care and she seems to be accepting those. She won't eat much but she eats little and slowly. I'm just concerned cause I haven't been able to really know why she stopped eating suddenly. Still trying to figure that out. Wondering if it's her gut, cause her tummy does feel weird, it feels full, maybe it some fluid accumulation? Are there any signs I should be watching? Any disease I'm missing out?

I am so sorry she is doing poorly. I am sure you know how important getting food into her. I do not know why her stomach feels full. We usually worry about gas/bloat. You may be correct about some sort of fluid accumulation.

I wish I had some answers for you. Hoping she improves.

She's eating now. We have an ayurvedic remedy for loss of appetite. It's called liv52, it's really helped with her appetite and she seems to be recovering now but the mystery of why she stopped eating is still unsolved :(
I hope it's not some permanent problem that I've missed out. Thank you everyone for your replies and support.
