Foster Bolt had a baby

I'm currently fostering a trio of sows. In their notes they indicated they had been exposed to an intact male. The youngest of the trio, Bolt, looked a bit bulgy, but I never felt movement or anything else. She was crying this morning, so I picked her up to see what was wrong... and she gave birth right in my lap. I feel like a terrible foster Mom for handling her right then and there.
Birth went quick. One pup. Pup seems really wobbly. Is that normal? Bolt is being a very good mom - paying attention to pup and trying to clean the living daylights out of her/him.
I also need to baby proof the cage. My setup is a three level (I can post links to photos if need be). I need to make the sides higher or add additional grids. I'll get on that later this morning. But the other levels? Do I need to take them down? Actually, pup may not be able to reach the 2nd level for a bit - it's a leap up to get there. Should I just add cardboard around the edges? I can't seem to find the page on guineapigcages.com on how to baby proof.
Wow. Exciting morning. And I still need to do my work. I have a meeting with my boss in 15 minutes. Eek!
Pictures soon. I promise. I just haven't had a chance to upload them.
Thanks!

Exciting!! I'm glad momma & baby are doing well. I think the youngest pig we've ever had is 6 weeks, if that. We have a basic 1-level c&c setup. We put pieces of corrugated cardboard between the grids and coroplast to make the sides higher, block access to the grid openings (maybe this wasn't an issue?) and keep the baby away from any gaps between the grids & coroplast.

I'm worried - it's nearly three hours later and baby is alert, but so, so tired. Do I try hand feeding it? her. I'm going to call baby her. Should I leave her be? wrap her to keep her warm? She feels warm to the touch - I don't think that's the problem. But i always thought baby pigs were endless energy, and that is not the case.

Is the mom near to keep her warm? I would make sure the room is nice and cozy so no energy need be expended to add warmth. I would not be surprised if the trauma of being born did not result in immediate endless energy.
I am thinking they don't need to immediately eat.
I found a post by Talishan. First one mentions immediately putting the mom and pup in one location together.

I think bpatters would have good advice too.

okay. Things are looking good! Most of it was me panicking at being a first-time mom. Bolt is looking good (and at a second gander.. I suspect is a boy). He's currently cleaning himself as I type. I've seen him nurse. Auntie pigs are good with him. If Bolt is ignoring him, he's snuggled up with someone else.

Just 24 hours old and he's moving more like I thought a baby pig should move. They're hilarious. I just finished cleaning the cage and will spend this evening trying to edit videos. We're currently calling the baby Buckaroo Banzai (sticking with the Bs of the trio's names of Browny, Bear and Bolt). Auntie Bear is his favorite. I'm trying to get a few clear piggy-porn photos of him so I can feel more confident in calling him a boy.

I'm not fond of Google photos - they've made it impossible to embed photos. But here's the link to Banzai: https://photos.app.goo.www.guinealynx.info/
You can zoom. I'm sticking with he's a boy....

Adorable little boar! So glad he's perked up. Enjoy the silliness and the sweetness!
Our first pregnant was (almost) a surprise. We thought she was just fat, but then one day the fat was seen to move in a most peculiar manner, and the very next day--before we had really absorbed the implications--three babies arrived.

I kept checking for movement, but never saw or felt any.
I've gotta get a photo of the three adults all up on the second level as Banzai has the entire first floor. I don't think they're sure of him. lol
