I’m thinking she’ll need antibiotics as well as soaking and antibiotic salve. That’s starting to look pretty serious.

Jewel

February 28th 2017 to February 24th 2024

What a difference 24 hours make. This time yesterday we were together today you're gone. We spent your final hours together and how you fought. Your feet were starting to get better. The scabs were healing the swelling going down. Heck even your poops had shape.

You were starting to pick up then all of a sudden you went down hill. At 3.00am feed you were slow in feeding to where you stopped all together. I gave you a bit of silverbeet and you even ate that slowly. Then this afternoon you started to bring small amounts of food up through your mouth and nose even thought I thought I made sure you swallowed. Then at 4.53pm you took your last breath and was gone. Guess my singing of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong hastened your exit.

From the moment I laid eyes on you I knew you were special you and your sister Jinx. You gave me nothing but love a few grey hairs but love and smiles. Use to call you my lioness hiding in the hay the way you would peek through the hay.

In the end I had to tell you it was OK to go and join your sister Jinx as you fought so hard to stay. It broke my heart to watch you but I felt honoured to be with you in your final hours. I am sitting here crying in disbelief, my heart broken. I promised your sister Jinx that I would take care of you. I hope I kept my word. RIP my little Dumpling till we're together once more. My heart is like butter where you have left your paw print and I'll treasure it always.

The first day we got you and Jinx.

Thank-you Lisa12, Lynx and ItsaZoo. It has been over 24 hours and I am walking around lost and numb. I go over it again and again. I stare at her picture on the wall with tears in my eyes. I am also living in fear as to who is next as when ever I lose one another follows quickly. I found a picture taken 8 months before Jaffa passed away and 9 months before Joy passed away. Happier times.

Image Jay, Joy, Jill, Jaffa, Jewel and Jinx 3rd April 2019 Only Jay alive now. Took ages to get them lined up. Take note of Joy snuggled in pillow and Jewel looking straight at me. Can just make Jay out on the end next to Joy.

Thank-you 3littleGuineas. Losing Jewel was another end of an era. She was the last of my second herd of piggies and the last of the piggies we had before we moved.

She has left a big hole in my heart and in my life. Just have to keep paws crossed don't lose another. Usually when lose one lose another quickly afterwards. I couldn't bear it! Thanks again for all your kind words!

                                                28/02/2017 to 29/05/2022
My darling Jinx, so hard to imagine it has been 2 years since we parted. Now reunited with sister
Jewel! I think of you often and you're in my dreams. Our time together went by way too fast.

You were so sweet and gentle and never put yourself forward. You never made a fuss or noise except for the day you left.

You were a special baby and I keep you and my memories of you in my heart! Till we're together again I will keep you close by me! RIP Sweet Chocolate Muffin! XXXXX.

Two tone piggy reminded me of licorice or chocolate.

Jinx didn't like or hate photos. She figured if she let me take them she'd be back in her cage in no time.

Jinx looked really beautiful! I saw two boys similar coloured than her looking for new home the other day..

I remember once you wrote only silly question is one never asked-and its the best quote ever..
Can I ask you cause you have more pigs and you had bit of tough situation like me with exotic vets-one declared that guinea pig lifespan now is 8-10-he even wrote it on the web site. Instead of making me feel better, i felt worse, cause i always was looking to not do mistake, but there always was *someor at least one* So, i tought if i would done better they would have live longer..:(. None of my pigs had serious ilness but they had other conditions, that were all somewhat treatable...or at least how it looked like as far as we knew and saw.

Do you think thats even realistic..? i know you guys said 5-8, 6-8 or 5-7.. i dont know why he said that.

Jinx was beautiful inside and out. So sweet and gentle! Here we say 3-5 years. I had one Jessie live to 8. Some over 7 but mostly around 5. Some even 2 years or younger.

They are like people they can reach old age or pass at a young age. No-one can tell when a certain pig will live. That's just silly in my books. Very rarely do they reach double figures!

You did NOTHING wrong! DON'T play the double guess game. Thanks for your kind words about Jinx. You're the only one. Nice to know someone cares!
