Thank you and i know you ha ve and had wonderful bunch of pigs and wish them all well, too...

So..
Win will start with betrion tomorrow and i will report if her legs are alright in a week.

We also went on vet check out(our old exotic vet he suggested he wanted see Winnie cause he hasnt seen her in 2 mot nhs..so he did listen to her lungs and even when she ate and despite the fact you can hear crackiling sounds when she eats at home, at vets she didnt do no thing wrong..So he said she doesnt need AB now. I didnt exactly agree, but he s confident man with his own oppinions and i am full on better safe than sorry.because he did culture and he s fully aware on ly c ombina tion with marbocyl and gentamicin and azythromic in are working to some degree- this we saw and culture showed the same..) i think he doesnt want to have her on AB even if she s not entirely healt hy.
And he said to send him recordings with her makin gsounds..

However i didnt want to argue with him, cause this always end up wrong cause we know him and y know..whatever..
after all is good that he didn t hear nothing wrong, bu t i am still hearing it at home, now less often luckily.

I decided tobe better safe than sorr y and score some azythromicin tohave it so we can be calm and dont even have to contact the vet (i mean we will, but we want pills at home).
I am writing this cause its funny storry..maybe it will give someone bit of help and ideas.
So..My sister contacted friend who is vet tech..but i think she cant do this, she will report back on moneday..So..i contacted my denti s t i need some azyt hromicin for wisdom tooth pulling out(I have mitral walve prolapse so..i need ab protec tion before surgery-t here wont be any surgery i only need azythromicin-even my sister and mum said this is crazy idea:p..den tis t said she will call me back ne x t week--ooopsss! I dont know what i am gonna say..(and btw my wisdom tooth needs to be pulled out so i have good excuse only we wont be doing this now)
If this two plans fail..we have friend who s cool guy and he is the vet, rocknroller and i think he can gave us stuff..easily..hopefully
So if Johnny Thunders could score drug, calling dealers from every airoport we can score some azithromicyn, too.. lol..

But i do th ink our exotic vet will help if we will be in crisis..hopefully we wont be.

So..see we re always up to some crazy s t uff:);)
Winnie and Ziggy are at home..we had tons of fun in the morning. .and i had to get up really e arly..and now i am at my workin gplace...

Wish you all well!
will report ab treatment results...for legs..and for lungs if she will need azithromicyn again..

Hello!
We need help urgently..o r more like an advice..
Winnie has been off meds for ne arly 2 months..
She s been making sounds that are quite hearable..no t that often bu t you can hear it much louder when off meds.
She s been feeling good, legs are better with Betrion, weight is good, coat is shinny..but one thing is very concerning.
So Sef, Lynx and co. I really need an advice.
We still havent change the bedding completely. But beside stuff from Ikea we bought some guinea queen product and she really likes it. And its expensive and when i get salary on sathurday i will immidatly order more of it..we bought a little just for test and its working great.
https://guineaqueen.com/live_eat/cage_c ... ers/page/2
What is concerning is she still havent recover from URI/pnuemonia.
Scariest thing is she sometimes when she eat its like something is stuck in her not troat but like lung blockage-she looks just like Ziggy when she is gonna puke...her chest is moving..this last seconds. She looks concious and okay during it.
But as i said like dogs and cat when they re gonna puke..its exactly ike that.
I even could her some salvia in her mouth i was so concerned caus ei know guinea pig cant puke..its like when i cough but i have reflux i feel like puking too..if you know what i mean..
First this happened in december..thna couple of more times.
But its getting more often..i ve seen this twice in 2 weeks.
It looks scary and she than when it stops just keep on going.
I dont know what it is.
I once in december asked vet and he said he thinks its from the lungs and it seems that food somehow get stuck-but i wont say in troat...i dont know how or where..vet said lungs obstruction is problem in her case-in the long run .
Beside this *attacks* and sounds from the lungs..she s so happy and have quality life!
Does anybody knows what it is?
On vet check on 19.3. vet said she looks brillian t..but of course.. its not like that, exactly..looks..yeah but she still has problems.
We got azythromicin from dog vets ...she will start in 14 days..
We will completely change the bedding next week.
I ll do my best to record this *attacks* or problems or whatever i can call it, i am very concerned.
Our exotic vet said to send him immidiatly when she s doing sounds..or having this thing. But he wants her off hay..so i need to put her off hay
ASAP if i wanna send it to him and work with him.
And i wanna also because of your experience to her your oppinion and to show it to you..
I ll keep my phone close so i can record it ...i ll do my best..it happens rarely, bui t its bad enough that it does and that is more often now.
Is our plan okay?

Lynx what would you do?
IT s okay to record it, show it to you to vet..to try with azythromicin on 14 days?
Cause she obviously still have problems.
I love her, we all do..and i am into it 100000000% . We will fight..to solve every little thing..we solved a few already.

I cant just have her off meds..and watch her having problems. I do understand the vet tough..and fact that we needed ab break.

Anybody that can comment on this attacks as something is stuck in her lungs(always happand when eating hay or pellets) or if you saw something similar. Please please help, advice comment.

Thank you so much in advance.
Please comment, please

I have had pigs make a choking sound with body movements you could describe as looking like puking. Usually they have just eaten something too fast. It sounds (and looks) horrible, but so far they have all been fine. Is just like with humans who get something stuck or something goes down the wrong pipe, we cough and splutter and usually it goes away on its own, no damage done.

The no hay sounds like a bad plan though. Hay is supposed to be their main food source and it keeps their teeth/molars in shape.

Both of mine have done the cough-choke sound as well. Right now it’s Ruby Sue - kind of a “cack” sound. She’s lying down eating hay and I think that’s the issue. If she was standing up she could swallow better and catch her breath.

Maybe the vet said no hay just to see if it’s hay seeds or tops making Winnie cough. If she coughs with no hay, then it could be something else. I don’t know, but it sounds like the vet is trying to narrow down the problem. I give you credit, Lisa12, for being so dedicated and observant caring for Winnie.

How recently have you had an xray or ultrasound of the area?

I worry there may be a tumor or something more serious going on - though certainly this may be a food item lodged in the throat and coughed out.

Thank you both very much for answers and oppinions.

She had ful body x ray 2 months ago..all was perfect.
I am concerned its connected with her identified enterococcue infection she never fully recovered from and that s why vet is focused on bedding and the fact that 3/5 of my pigs were having uris and all had hay bedding-irie had hay and blankete tough...if i record it ( the "attack" when she eats)i will post it here immidiatly.
I think its lungs problem i am not 100%.

So here we go with some news about Win.

She s going completely on fleece in following week cause we finally got it..we will also record her with camera positioned so it wont bother her..cause she s still making sounds-sometimes and if vet wants the proof he will get it+i wanna know she doesnt chew on it.

We re finnishing two weeks of treatment of hind legs with mupirocin-Betrion, but she still has this pre-bumblefoot legs..and so it didnt help her the way it should-it didnt cure..however..i really think in 14 days should be okay..in instruction its written 7-10 days, we extended it on 14.
Since her problem is not severe-but its on going (with legs), we will take a break from creams than after a while we will try something else-maybe neomicyn or manuka honey or betadine. We wont try epson salt, cause she s got on going uri simptoms..and this is not apropriate in our case.
All in all i think fleece will help for legs too..

She got some smelly urine..we collected and i brought sample to dog vet-like 14 days ago(without Win of course)only middle level of bacterias in urine..nothing
else is wrong..it still smells sometimes..so we will soon brought it for check in again.

OTher than that..we re glad we re still together and we have good time everyday....we took vegetables, hay..run around..vitamin C.

And we re border collies full on..even Win look like one..we re from working lines so its like we cant stop..even if we would want..but we dont want to.:)

Also thinking about another course of azythromicyn at the end of april/begining of may..when she would be on flece already, so we have better chance for recovery(bacteria is already identified as i wrote before.). We have it at h ome already:) Cause dog vets always take care of anything we want despite we do our best to work with our
exotic vet, too...

HEr normal weight is between 700-800g and is stable. She eats entirely on her own-enough..she s not forcefed.

Will update some how all withbedding is going and if we finnaly kick this uri stuff ..and other stuff, too..

You have done a lot to help Winnie. Glad to hear she’s eating well and moving around, that helps with bumblefoot. I hope the fleece works out to keep her dry and comfortable.
